The river Dee is famous throughout the world for its salmon fishing as well as the Royal Family who have occupied some of the beats at Royal Deeside. The river Dee rises in the Cairngorms and has many excellent tributaries throughout its course before it enters the sea near Aberdeen. 

The Dee is renowned for the chance of an early Spring fish with records showing productive opening days throughout its history, the lower and lower-middle beats tend to fare better for early Spring fishing. July sees Grilse and Salmon entering the river and late Summer usually sees some great Autumn fish being caught.
