Spiders
North county spiders have been around for hundreds of years and remain to be incredibly popular. As pro fly fishing guides we are massive fans of spider fishing flies as they are easy to fish and will catch all year round.
Spider trout flies all have a sparse soft hackle tied in near the eye of the hook. Once submerged, this hackle will move in a very life like manner suggesting the moving legs and tails of a submerged insect.
Whist some spiders fishing flies are geared up to imitate specific insect, the majority just do a great general imitation of any submerged insect or emerging fly. North country spiders are successful fly patterns on both river and still water.
