VISION HERO 2 HAS LANDED!

March – Stillwater Fly Selection

March stillwater fishing in the UK often marks the first real signs of change after winter, although conditions can remain variable and unpredictable.

Midges and buzzers continue to be the primary natural food source, and these remain the most consistent hatches through much of the month. On milder days, buzzer activity can increase noticeably, particularly during calmer periods, with fish responding well to carefully presented larvae and pupae patterns.

At the same time, there is often still relatively little natural food available overall. As a result, stocked rainbow trout in particular can be willing to take lures and attractor patterns with confidence, especially when fished thoughtfully and at the correct depth. This can provide productive fishing while insect activity remains intermittent.

Fish behaviour in March can change quickly with weather conditions. Some days will favour buzzer-based approaches, while others may see fish respond better to movement-based patterns. Flexibility and observation are key.

The flies in this collection have been selected specifically for UK stillwater fishing in March, covering buzzer patterns for emerging insect activity alongside lures and other effective options for periods when natural feeding is limited.

If you’re unsure which flies best suit your local stillwater or current conditions, we’re always happy to help.
