Flies For The Derbyshire Wye

The Derbyshire Wye is a pretty limestone stream in the Peak District. It's approximately 15 miles in length and is a tributary of the river Derwent. The Derbyshire Wye is one of the very few places in the UK to have a breeding population of wild Rainbow Trout.

There are lots of fly fishing opportunities on the Derbyshire Wye in both clubs and day tickets. The best flies for the Derbyshire Wye, like all rivers depends on the time of year but there are some great all rounders that work well, you may need to change tactics and flies through the day to get the best results

Dry flies work especially well on the clear waters of the Derbyshire Wye and some sections are dry fly only whilst other beats allow the use of wet flies and nymphs, make sure you check the rules before you fish. Our best flies for the Derbyshire Wye are listed below, on the whole I would go for the smaller sizes for dries - 16' 18's and even 20's.

Don't forget we dispatch all in stock flies same day if ordered before Midday and postage is free on orders over £12.
