The Beadhead Olive Spider Barbless Size 14 adds a small copper bead to a sparse Partridge-and-Olive-style soft-hackled fly. The bead helps the pattern enter the water quickly and hold a little deeper, while the mobile hackle continues to suggest the legs or wing movement of an emerging insect.
It is particularly useful as the point fly in a team of spiders, through the head of a pool or in broken water where an unweighted spider may ride too high. Cast upstream or across, maintain gentle contact and allow the fly to dead-drift before lifting naturally at the end.
