The Partridge and Orange Spider Barbless is one of the best-known North Country soft-hackled flies. The orange silk body provides a warm trigger, while the sparse partridge hackle creates movement and the impression of legs or emerging wings.
Use it for trout and grayling in riffles, glides and pool tails. It can be dead-drifted upstream, fished across-and-down or allowed to lift gently at the end of the swing. It is particularly effective when small olives, caddis or other vulnerable insects are moving near the surface.
