Early season Spring fly fishing is very dependent on the weather. In better weather, good hatches of March Browns, Large Dark Olive and Grannom Caddis can occur and fish will be hungry and eager to feed post post spawning. In cooler weather Shrimp and Caddis patterns fished close to the bottom will be effective. Don't forget also the nymphs of the Large Dark Olive and March Brown which are great early season Trout flies. Hatches can be sporadic as conditions change, be prepared to change tactics from dries to nymphs as the fish position changes in the water column.
