The emphasis on most caddis patterns is to make them heavy in order to get to the bottom on faster, deeper runs. Whilst this is brilliant for many applications, there are times the river angler wishes to be able to easily cast a small caddis on light gear into shallower riffles. Also, the stillwater angler who wishes to fish a caddis doesn't want to be trying to cast a heavy piece of lead. This pattern serves the purpose of a lightweight castable caddis pattern for the river or stillwater angler.
