Willie Gunn is one Salmon double for everyone to never leave home without one in their pocket. It can be fished all season and can be jazzed up to meet different water conditions. BUT the fly will still produce large percentages of fish hooked in its current form. Anglers who fish this pattern normally enjoy their sport throughout the season.

Salmon flies are currently transitioning to synthetic JC.

I caught my first salmon in an English river on this fly! On Sunday 6th September I swung this fly through some water in front of some potential salmon lies on the Ribble. I had already gone through the run with an Alleys-Shrimp and had nothing. So I gave this a go, and two casts in - BANG! I am over the moon. Sadly in the adrenaline of the moment, I snapped the hook off the line when I was unhooking the fish, so put it on a rock. By the time I had regained my composure, the fly had vanished! I am gutted. So have bought myself three more. Fingers crossed for another salmon before the season is through. BTW - the shop is brilliant, I dropped in a few weeks back to buy a bunch of flies including the willie gunn, and was given some great service. Many thanks.
