The Killer Jig adapts Sawyer's Killer Bug concept to a size 14 jig hook with a tungsten bead and a carefully selected substitute for the discontinued Chadwick's 477 yarn. The result is a compact, fast-sinking Euro nymph for trout and grayling.
Fish it on a tight line through runs, pockets and deeper glides. The jig hook helps the fly travel point-up, while the tungsten bead provides depth and contact. Adjust leader angle and bead weight to keep the fly near the bed without forcing it to move faster than the current. Fish it through likely water and wait for the line to tighten.
