The Grey Flag Sedge is an excellent, adult-caddis dry fly with a subdued grey wing and body. It offers a paler alternative to cinnamon and brown sedge patterns when trout are taking light-coloured caddis at the surface.
Fish it dead-drift through river glides and riffles, or add a brief controlled skate during active caddis movement. Match its size and shade to the naturals present. The sort of effective fly that can quickly earn a permanent place in the box.
