The black gnat fishing fly, as the names suggests is an imitation of the black gnat, a small terrestrial fly that swarms over the water on warm summer days. In truth is is a brilliant trout fly for imitating any smaller dark insect and will tempt both trout and grayling to take when other flies are being ignored during the warmer months.
