The Red Bobby Shrimp was designed on the Benchil beat on the river Tay this season. We had been trying out many different patterns and found this red and orange shrimp a great pattern for the autumn run. I thought I would name it after my friend and head ghillie Robert White of Stanley Fishings. Bobby has great success on his beats with many of his own fly pattern but he has fallen for my red shrimp pattern providing him and his customers with great action. It has also been providing good catches in peaty or dark water conditions. It has been tied on a copper tube and it fishes well in all height and conditions of all of the rivers. It is an outstanding autumn fly.
Salmon flies are currently transitioning to synthetic JC.
