The Ressie Dink Black is a superb, stillwater indicator fly designed by Peaks Fly Fishing director and head guide David Johnson. Its dark midge-like profile sits in the surface film and remains visible in choppy water, while trout may take the fly itself as an emerging or drowned midge.
A ring at the rear of the fly makes it easy to tie on a dropper. Add a buzzer or small nymph, balance its weight carefully and fish the pair static or with a very slow retrieve. Cover a rising fish with confidence and be ready for the water to open beneath the fly.
