The Parachute Yellow May is a versatile, high-visibility dry fly for trout and grayling feeding on Yellow May duns. This distinctly sulphur-yellow upwinged fly is associated with late spring and early summer on suitable UK rivers, particularly where the natural insect is present.
The parachute hackle helps the fly sit low and stable while the upright post remains easy to track. Fish it singly on a tapered leader, casting upstream or across for a drag-free drift. It is most useful when you can see pale yellow duns hatching or fish taking similarly sized upwinged flies from the surface.
