The Pheasant Tail Hackled Wet Fly is a superb, suggestive subsurface pattern with a natural pheasant-tail body and mobile hackle. It can represent drowned upwinged flies, emerging nymphs and other vulnerable insects.
Fish it across-and-down on rivers, lift it gently at the end of the drift, or use it in a stillwater wet-fly team. Keep the retrieve restrained so the hackle pulses without the fly racing unnaturally. Swing it through likely water with confidence and wait for the line to tighten.
