The Black Gnat Winged Wet Fly is an excellent, dark, compact wet fly for trout feeding on black gnats, smuts and other small land-bred insects. Its winged profile represents a drowned adult beneath the surface rather than a high-riding dry fly.
Fish it high in the water on rivers or stillwaters, using a natural drift or very slow retrieve. It is most relevant during warm-weather falls of small dark terrestrials. The mobile dressing gives it fish-catching presence throughout the drift.
