Mayfly (Green Drake)

The mayfly is one of the most famous upwing flies. It's significance as a fishing fly is even understood outside of fly fishing circles. The mayfly hatch normally starts to appear at the beginning of June and lasts for a good few weeks. Some waters will have more of a flush hatch where all the mayflies hatch in just a couple of weeks but on many rivers the mayfly hatch will carry on sporadically through July.
