The Knotted Midge Barbless is an excellent, delicate dry fly for trout and grayling feeding on small adult midges at the surface. Its slim body and knotted legs create a sparse, recognisable insect outline without adding unnecessary bulk.
Fish it singly on a fine, degreased tippet. On rivers, protect the drift carefully; on stillwaters, cast ahead of cruising fish and leave it nearly static. The sort of effective fly that can quickly earn a permanent place in the box.
