The Gold Ribbed Hare's Ear Original Barbless is an excellent, weighted version of the classic GRHE nymph. Its rough hare's-ear body suggests the legs and movement of several aquatic foods, including upwinged nymphs, caddis larvae and freshwater shrimp.
Dead-drift it through river runs and glides, fish it beneath an indicator, or retrieve it slowly on stillwaters. The weighting helps reach feeding depth, but leader angle and current speed still control its true path. The sort of effective fly that can quickly earn a permanent place in the box.
