The hawthorn fly is a terrestrial species of fly that hatches from surrounding vegetation towards the end of April. It gets its name from hatching at a similar time as the hawthorn blossoms. This is an important fishing fly as it can often be the first dry fly action of the year as the trout with on to the hawthorns as they are blown on to the water in large numbers.
Not used as yet but well tied and nice reproductions of the original fly, thanks!
