June is one of the most varied stillwater months. Trout can feed on buzzers one hour, hunt damsel nymphs the next and chase fry in the evening. Rather than relying on one method all day, successful anglers watch the water and adjust quickly.
Damsel nymphs become one of the month's most important food sources. As they migrate towards bankside vegetation to hatch, trout patrol weed beds, reed margins and shallow bays looking for them. This is prime time for the Peaks Fly Fishing Flash Damsel. Fish it on a floating or intermediate line with slow, positive pulls and occasional pauses to imitate natural damsel movement.
Buzzers still matter, especially in calmer weather. Black and Olive Buzzers, Diawl Bachs and Crunchers should stay in the box. On the water:
If you see trout cruising weed beds, do not strip too fast. Damsel nymphs swim in short bursts and pause. Copy that rhythm with a Flash Damsel and many follows turn into takes.
