Heptagenid nymphs are very common, living under the rocks and stones of most rivers. They are sometimes reffered to as stone clingers. Trout and grayling both feed on Heptagenid nymphs especially as they start to make their journey to the surface to hatch or when then are washed downstream during floods. These are great imitations and are brilliant trout and grayling fishing flies.Heptagenids are three tailed nymphs and hatch as a variety of upwing fly species such as the yellow may and large brook dun.
